Bat Trang Ceramic Village is a historic craft village with a history spanning over 700 years. Located on the banks of the Red River, it is approximately 13 kilometers to the southeast of Hanoi's city center. This is one of the few remaining traditional craft villages in Northern Vietnam. A visit to this village should not be missed when you are in the capital city of Hanoi.
Detail itineraryTour guide and driver from Vietnam Top Travel pick you up at your hotel at your requested time (8 AM or 1 PM). Then, go along the Red River dike to Bat Trang village on a 20-min drive. On arrival, begin your Bat Trang pottery village tour half day to learn more about the lives and traditional handicraft of this ancient typical village in the Red River delta.
You will wander around the village to see hundreds of pottery shops. Stop at a pottery workshop to learn about the porcelain-making process. You will have a special chance to try your hand at making your own pottery. The most difficult but funniest step is to control the wheel to form the shape of the products. With the help of the workshop owner, you will then have your own souvenir to bring back. Wait for a while for the workshop owner to dry it and then you can draw and decorate your own masterpiece at your interest.
Next, spend time visiting the village’s pottery and porcelain market to admire the art of handicraft in Bat Trang and listen to your guide’s explanation about it. Finish your Bat Trang ceramic village tour half day after that and get back to Hanoi.
Note: Lunch can be served at a local ancient house in the village at your request (around $15 USD / person). Please request us when you book the trip.
